Based upon a recent conversation I don't know the answer. This person has been 100% compliant yet still tested positive. It's a bit of a mystery.

I think that one of the reasons why reported infections are increasing is because the PCR test is so sensitive that it also detects dead virus debris. So the more people who have successfully fought off the virus are tested the more positive tests are reported.

Ok, but if the figures are believed, there's still a huge number of people taking up the beds, so the numbers of sick has also gone up dramatically?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but gov.uk says that there are about 120,000 NHS beds of which about 20,000 are ICU beds.

The latest published statistics state that in England there are about 22,000 people in hospital with Covid-19. In contrast to the "first wave" in spring, the number of Covid-19 ICU bed occupants is not identified. So how many of these 22,000 are occupying the ICU specific beds?

In the UK their aren't enough police left to enforce real laws, much less Covid regulations. And far too many people are concerned about their RIGHTS, but somehow never manage to remember their RESPONSIBILITIES.

I thought it needed to be sequenced and they just extrapolated the percentages from the samples, but it appears I’m wrong and it does show up on the standard test in the form of a missing protein.

It took 5 days for a swab test result, so it clearly wasn't a lateral flow test, so I'd assume it was specifically to determine the variant?

I’m in wave 2 for the vaccine. I think that means week after next but we’ll see.

I would imagine the MH beds that are normally hard enough to find in normal times must be like rocking horse shit nowadays.

My missus is supposed to be in wave 1 for the vaccine but has yet to be given a date despite being told it would be before Christmas .

We are fortunate to live in a rural area near the coast so away from major population and limit ourselves to long walks or me going cycling on a road route or the dunes and off road. We have the youngest and his G/F now living with us for this lockdown and thankfully they get it and are not fucking off to visit their mates.

I get sent out to do shopping as rarely as needed when we cant get a delivery as the missus who is a senior care worker at a local home is trying really hard to limit her risk to the residents

We had one here a few days ago, 37 nutter supposed to be in the secure psych ward, but he has Covid & they put him in a room with another Covid case.. an 82yo geezer. Geezer started to pray, nutter beat him to death with his oxygen tank.
The lawsuit from this is going to be spectacular, nutter was a County (no insurance) patient so LA County are on the hook for fucking up & putting him in a Covid room.

LANCASTER — The arraignment was rescheduled today to New Year’s Eve for a man accused of killing an 82-year-old fellow patient at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, where both men were being treated for COVID-19, by pummelling the victim with an oxygen tank as he was praying.

Jesse Martinez, 37, is charged with one count each of murder and elder or dependent adult abuse resulting in death, along with a hate crime allegation. He was unable to come to court for medical reasons and his arraignment was rescheduled for Dec. 31, according to a court clerk.

Martinez is presumably in quarantine for the virus and sheriff’s jail records indicate that he is being held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility downtown in lieu of $1 million bail.

He could face up to 28 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The attack occurred about 9:45 a.m. Dec. 17, according to the sheriff’s department, which reported the two men did not know each other prior to being admitted to the hospital.

“(The victim) was housed in a two-person room inside the hospital with the suspect, who was also there receiving treatment,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “The suspect became upset when the victim started to pray. He then struck the victim with an oxygen tank.”

The victim, David Hernandez-Garcia, was a Lancaster resident, according to the coroner’s office.

TBH i don't care how they do it and who is or isn't right, as long as it hopefully brings a little normality in the not too distant future. I'm one of the easiest going people out there and even I'm getting a little fed up with the doom and gloom day in day out. So throwing this in the pot along with Pfizer one too, can only be a good thing.
