At a guess our "Califailure" friend is unaware of the relationship between sample size and statistical significance.Mussels wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:06 pmOn an individual level those won't be the most reliable but taking averages from thousands will be. but apparently the UK has numbers/evidence to show how many people that are vaccinated, unmasked, asymptomatic & spent at least 10 minutes with someone who isn't vaccinated, but IS masked, & there's evidence just who it was that infected them?.. & you call my claims incredulous???

'Six people' (whether friends, random strangers, or a mix) is, apparently, a statistically significant sample for a country of 25,000,000 residents and trumps (sic) any information provided by formal bodies in both the UK and US

LA DPH & the State are still stating that everyone who ever had it, still has it. They have flat out refused to publish recovery numbers. However, they are not alone in this as several other Sates are doing the same thing... but with that said, most Counties in Ca did report recovery numbers from day 1.. but all the ones near me that were doing so, have now stopped. Some places are stating LA & Ca recovery nunbers, but I guess they're extrapolating from data released by more transparent health dept numbers for other places.Mussels wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:06 pm On an individual level those won't be the most reliable but taking averages from thousands will be. LA Mayor Eric Garshitti claimed that "everyone" in the County would get it.
I'm well aware of it, but when they can't even come up with the sample size to begin with one is loathe to believe the claims when the CDC actually said the numbers are (their word) untraceable. They're essentially saying that can't find ANY cases, but then they state that "it could be as high as 25%" One can't help but think they are just pulling numbers out of their arse if we are to believe that the numbers are both untraceable AND as high as 25%.

I have bugger all idea what is actually being argued here.
It's stopped being a discussion.
Let's move the fuck onto a discussion in here before I get even more sick of this thread

I don't think anyone has been paid $100 so far. It has to be approved by (Democrat controlled) Congress & they've all fucked off on vacation for the Summer. They also let the eviction moratorium expire this weekend.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
I could extrapolate a bit from that from my experience today. As stated, I only personally know about 5 or 6 people who have said "If the vaccinated don't have to wear a mask, then neither do I"
LA County is claiming (I think) about 60% vaccinated, but mask obedience at Home Cheapo today was around 25%.. so that (might) indicate that 15% are wandering around unvaccinated and unmasked. Mask obedience was slightly higher at Wally World & higher again at Costco.
At the boozer on Friday night there were around 300 customers. None were wearing a mask & neither were any of the staff. Two gals did put on a mask as they walked in the door & them immediately took them off again.

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?
There's been a rather impressive drop in numbers...
Last week's numbers for vaccinated breakthrough cases in hospital: 1%
That has suddenly dropped to 0.001%
Last week the daily number (in LA County) for new cases was up to 2500
Now it's *spiking* at 1500 a day....
So a decrease of 40% is called a *spike*
We're also being told that the number of vaccinated breakthrough cases that end up in the hospital in the UK is 45%. Is that what you're being told? Quite a difference between 0.001% & 45%...

Yes it is, I think it's just swell that apparently 45% of the people in the UK who got the vaccine pretty much wasted their time.

If you're trying to make the point I think you're trying to make (and I could be wrong) then there's a reason for that. I'll let you try and work it out.

Wait until everyone has been vaccinated, twice (possibly thrice with the mooted autumn booster), then we'll know the truth!

Can't wait to get my 3rd dose
Of course there's no reliable source, this (the 45% part) came from the media. KKKTLA & the LA Times are fond of using the Daily Heil as a source. There's even been times where the same story has appeared on both KKKTLA & in the LA Times where they each quoted the other as the source.
Apparently neither you or Weeksy can discredit the 45% claim? Would either of you care to quote the actual number?
The sudden drop from 1% to 0.001% for break-through cases came from LA DPH via KKKTLA who have apparently employed someone who can use a calculator since last week.

Vaccinated cases in hospital in the UK is 45% - why does that worry you?
Most of them have something else wrong as well, and that is probably why they are in hospital. Even something as simple as being a bit podgy can do it.
And when (if) we reach 100% vaccinated EVERY SINGLE HOSPITAL COVID CASE will have been vaccinated.

New NHS data suggests 23% of people with Covid infections in hospital were admitted for other reasons.
And some of those are bound to have had both jabs but possible asymptomatic or not ill enough to need to go to hospital...until they fell down the stairs and broke a leg or whatever.
