I think that's the point - it doesn't affect your life because there isn't a lockdown, there hasn't been a real lockdown since last March. If there was another one then it would affect your life, sooner or later.

Continued travel restrictions will hurt the Spanish economy massively, despite the Eur providing Eur 500bn in reinsurance.

If your island gets put on the green list then stand by - although to be fair Lanzarote has never been Ibiza.

The UK has locked the front door and left the patio doors wide open with a meal laid on for the burglars.

Currently the advice is not to travel to amber list countries, including the canaries, and the rules for returning are;

take a COVID-19 test
book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 travel tests – to be taken after arrival in England
complete a passenger locator form

On arrival in England

On arrival in England you must:

quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days
take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8

I admit it's full of holes but if there's a sensible alternative without going over the top like the aussies I'd like to hear it.

TBH no.... it was a great idea but it didn't work out. Due to a couple of illnesses one of the important people would have missed out too which would have been properly harsh on them and i'd have felt really bad about it. So all in all, it worked out OK.

The wife now has Jerez booked in Oct so she'll get the Euro trackday hit to make her happy, the Euro trackday idea was always more for her than it was for me, although i wouldn't have admitted that at the time. For me anyway, MTB is way more important than a Euro Trackday and if i were pushed, that's a harder thing to swallow than missing out on Portimao, the fact i won't be in Morzine this year. But as i said, we've got other stuff booked in the UK, so IMO it's not necessarily affecting my life in the way i feel others are being affected, like for example Potters family who can't get home to see a dying family member, that's what i class as affecting peoples lives, not "oh you can't go on a fancy jolly", that's just a bonus thing to me.

They agree to an ankle tracking device that will monitor their whereabouts for the 10 days quarantine.
£50k fine and 6 months in jail if you go out

I thought that was quite reasonable, if you want to exit the UK and come back, or just come back to visit, and you have a legitimate UK passport then you can, but you have to quarantine to protect the people in the UK.

That bit... whilst it's an idea, the actual implementation would be insane in terms of logistics, expense etc.

OK, just me being a bit literal, no surprise there then. I took it as being no affects rather than just unimportant ones IYSWIM.

My life hasn't been badly affected either, the only real peeve has been a lack of travel to the mainland and further. I foolishly booked to go to Amsterdam earlier this year. The ferry company, DFDS, have given me a credit note valid until late next year, which I think is a reasonable outcome.

I'm no expert on Spanish govt. funding, but I suspect Lanz. gets central funding and local income from the tourist industry. That's a lot of concentration risk in terms of income and if that income is hit then it's going to be felt quite keenly in the near future. When does the ERTE (furlough?) end? WHo pays the bill for it? When it does end, how many 'zombie' companies are going to fold? Naive to think it's rosy in the garden given the current situation.

Hopefully I'm Mr. Doom 'n' Gloom, but I don't see much of an improvement for the rest of the year and how many businesses can hold out that long?

Like I said earlier, our Ayuntamiento is one of richest in Spain. Hence needs less central help.
