Sometimes it seems like MIT will say anything to get attention.
Anyway as their researcher is such a good data scientist he will know that correlation != causation. He will also know the differences could be easily explained by common differences between red and blue states, things like population density and service industry employment rates.

Bad news: it's 'Hay Fever' season. More bad news:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57467051

A headache, sore throat and runny nose are now the most commonly reported symptoms linked to Covid infection in the UK, researchers say.

Prof Tim Spector, who runs the Zoe Covid Symptom study, says catching the Delta variant can feel "more like a bad cold" for younger people.

But although they may not feel very ill, they could be contagious and put others at risk.

Awkward.... Now we have the PTB (Powers That Be) telling business owners that vaccinated don't need masks, but unvaccinated do, so where does that leave the millions who had it & recovered?

WooT! they shit canned the mask requirement in Califailure for the vaccinated today, but told the unvaccinated "tough titty"

However, we now have a situation where Newsolini stated it's up to individual businesses what they do, so it's only been a few hours & it's already a cascading clusterfuck.

Actually the lefty whiners are starting to realize just what they got when they voted for Biden. Both Bill Maher & John Stewart have suddenly turned into realists.

Day one of no masks...
I'm at the bank using the outdoor hole in the wall & I realize this no mask malarky is going to severely curtail any aspirations I had to be a bank robber. I punch in the # etc & out of the corner of my eye I see someone walking up to the door to enter the bank.
The guy is wearing black cowboy boots, black jeans, black shirt, black cowboy hat & a black bandana over his face like a bank robber... Guy looked like he stepped out of a cowboy movie, I actually looked around to see if there was a getaway horse standing in the parking lot.

They are lifting the requirement to wear masks outdoors here tomorrow - and curfew ends on Sunday :D

We still have to wear a mask inside/enclosed spaces but to not have to outside will be nice :D

Wearing masks outdoors must be a pain. I can do the indoors and would outdoors if told to but love getting the bugger off asap. Took my son to Duxford last year and it was 30c and really muggy on the day, being indoors with a mask was awful and got worse as the mask got more and more sweaty

Yup. My physio in the valley has hayfever at the moment but because of the heat we did yesterday's session outside in the shade (it wasn't 30+ in the shade thankfully), ever so slightly better than indoors

Because the ground's dried up now, there are a lot more people in resort so we've had to keep the masks on all the time. I only go without up here ifs really early or really late and there is no one around (so no risk to anyone).

But in the valley it's been masks on 100% of the time :( I suspect there's an element of the high temperatures behind the decision, but everyone seems pretty happy about it!! :D :D :D

Now they've removed the workplace mask requirements.

A few nights ago the Foo Fighters played at an LA area bar ($23! bargain!) & there were pro-mask/anti vaxxer demonstrators out front because tickets were only sold to the vaccinated..

Even though the rules ain't changed, there's a few tourist families here in town tonight.

Can tell it's their first day as they are all bright red. Burnt under the strong sun. After the UK, it's berserk.

I was in a beach resort yesterday. The rules haven't changed - you must wear masks in shops etc (unless eating), in the street you still have to in signed areas (because these are typically congested areas where distancing is tricky).

The latter is now being roundly ignored. There's no le plod to enforce anything. I have to say that out-of'season it was self regulating by the locals.

Blimey. They don't mess about in Oz. This could be a real money spinner..

Police have said they will use number plate recognition technology to monitor vehicles and ensure people have not strayed out of their lockdown zone..
