You could simply gave been nice, polite and helpful for 5 minutes instead of being bitter and angry for no other reason than to prove your superiority.

Seems very very petty to me.
But it's fine for the person to be standing there for no other reason than to prove their superiority. Seems very very petty to me... especially as there was no mention of wearing a mask outside while I was 2nd, 3rd or 4th in line. Has covid now evolved to the point where it only infects people at the front of a line?

Seriously? Grow some fucking balls. Once again for the hard of thinking: THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO WEAR A MASK OUTSIDE. Some egotistical jobsworth asshole decided to be a prick & try to enforce a rule/requirement that DOESN'T FUCKING EXIST.

WTF has happened to you lot back in blighty?

FYI reported this morning:

"But he urged people to get both doses, saying that of the 49 people in hospital with Covid in Bolton only five had received two vaccinations."

Ok, no knowing how they contracted it, but just being 'outside' is no guarantee. Think of how far the smell of cigarette smoke carries, for instance.

The guy wanted you to put the mask on when you reached the front of the line because it means you're next to go in. That way you've already got your mask on when you step in, rather than either a)waiting to go inside before you put it on or b)holding up the line while you fart around putting it on when it's your turn to go in.

I.e. he's making things run smoothly and keeping the line moving.

We're following local rules. Local is different depending on whether I'm in my house, in my own street, in the village, in the town. Surprisingly quoting the rules in another fecking continent holds zero fecking weight. Saying it's fine in California probably has -negative- weight outside California.

And, whilst I don't like it, mask wearing is hardly a massive sacrifice. So I'll grudgingly continue if it persuades the spastics who won't get vaccinated to wear their ones, and limit the spread.

It wasn't needed, I could clearly see the inside line from 3rd place in the outside line. Plus the jobsworth wasn't outside all the time, people were going from the front of the outside line to the end of the inside line without having to be given instruction on when to walk 10ft.

Last time I was there they had someone outside asking for your membership card & then they would walk inside to the front desk & hand it to one of the three gals working there... immediately followed by myself. I questioned why I wasn't able to hand over the card to the front desk myself only to be told "it decreases the chance of infection".. Which was also complete bullshit as they introduced one more person you had contact with purely to carry your card a few feet to the desk.

Irony is of course, all the people who bring up those ^^^ sorts of references are the ones freaking out the most about having to put a small bit of cloth over their face or, shock horror, remain indoors.

My penis is not so small that I'm intimidated by an Asda queue wrangler asking me to cover my face :D

Nelson was a wimp, he'd complain about a hangnail, as the records show:

Horatio Nelson is one of the greatest English heroes. His key exploits at the battles of the Nile and Trafalgar, which led to Britain’s maritime supremacy, are well known and celebrated in the 5.5m statue at the summit of Nelson’s column in Trafalgar Square, London. The statue also showcases his most famous injuries, the injury to his right eye and arm amputation. However, as well as these he had a number of other battle injuries and afflictions including recurrent malaria, yellow fever, scurvy, tuberculosis and dysentery

In July 1797 Nelson led a doomed assault on the Spanish island of Tenerife in which he was hit in the right arm by a musket ball shortly after stepping ashore. Bleeding heavily, he was taken back to HMS Theseus, where the injured limb was amputated. On 25 July the ship's surgeon, James Farquhar, wrote in his journal: "Compound fracture of the right arm by a musket ball passing thro a little above the elbow; an artery divided; the arm was immediately amputated."
It is claimed that within 30 minutes, Nelson was again issuing orders to his men.

I really fail to understand the issue. You might feel he's a jobsworth etc etc etc but there are guidelines that say you are ''safer" without a mask outside - not SAFE

Surely, in a queue of people, it's no hardship to put a mask on a few minutes early?

In my area we have to wear a mask outside at all times. So yes, I carry mine in resort because I rarely actually see another human at the mo. But if there are people near (well, ok, in sight of) me, then I put it on. When I go anywhere in the valley I wear one at all times (except sitting eating and drinking) because, if we all do, it might help things settle faster and my friends and I won't go bust because there will actually be a winter season!!

You may not have a law that says you must wear a mask but it's not a stupid idea

What you are writing reads as if you don't believe in any risk and so you are happy to catch and spread the virus as long as you don't have to wear a mask????

@ ZRX
Just in case it was overlooked: Don't get complacent just because you have had two vaccinations that makes you impervious.

Is that out of the 287,000,000 doses administered so far in the US?

Does it matter where? You're no less dead by being a tough guy. Dead is, well, dead.

I don't wear masks outdoors, simple as, but if someone asks, of course I do without question.

I wear a mask outdoors, it doesn't do me any harm, nor is it an inconvenience. Therefore any help it might give, how fucking miniscule that might possibly be if it happens is a bonus.

And just to show how bloody minded I am, I wore one when doing water rescue training having been advised I didn't need to.

I help marshal a covid jab clinic car park, it's arseholes like you that add so much to the day. Happily they're aren't that many like you where I live.

All my family died in the war so people like you could whine like a toddler who's dropped a sweetie.

LMFAO!! Epic :) I couldn't give any less of a fuck about other people choosing to wear a mask, we've already got people saying they are going to wear one every day for the rest of their miserable lives.
Do you wear a mask outside after you get a flu shot every year? We know how vaccines work. Some people get the flu shot, get flu & cark it. Most don't. No one is asking people to wear masks after they get a flu shot (or before) in case someone else catches flu & pops their clogs.

ok, I'm asking that you wear one outdoors every minute you are outside, even if there is no other person within 10 miles. That's perfectly reasonable, right?.. yanno, because you just said you won't question it.

According to the CDC two weeks ago (paraphrased):
If you’ve been fully vaccinated:
You can resume activities that you did prior to the pandemic.
You can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart, unless you are under the heel of dictatorial despot Gavin Newsolini.

The entire US is pretty much *back to normal*... except Califailure... which has the lowest infection rates in the US... but is acting as though it has the highest.

I merely asked a question. It required a yes or no answer.
