The vaccinations are increasing. France has done a decent number of second jabs, so that's good -

A total of 3,527,481 second doses have been administered in UK ...
2 610 990 in France ...
68m to 64m ...
However, for first doses, uk has done over 30 million, while France has done just over 8 million.

Talking this evening to our friend is the Ariage, he and his wife are both on the list to have their jabs. But the local pharmacy only had 10 doses delivered.

My area (Savoie, 73) they seem to have seriously increased the amount of vaccine and have available appointments in the nearest centre within a couple of days of when you call. Two friends made appointments despite not quite being 50. But as with everything here, different areas are very different :(

I get that the UK has done a huge number of first vaccines. And I think the science says that you have almost as much protection with the first as with two. But I'm still quite chuffed that France is not too far off when it comes to 2nd doses. They will hopefully get their shit together during this latest 'sort of' lockdown and do better!!

Need Portugal to get their act together. We're desperately hoping to be able to visit my mother-in-law in August, by then she wouldn't have seen her grandkids in 28 months. But despite being 70 she hasn't had a single jab and has no idea when she will.

Yep, like I said, way too many took the position that the government have imposed these rules and once the rules are relaxed we can take zero responsibility and do whatever we want again.

The entitlement generation have taken over.
Wouldn't go that far. 1000 youths being arseholes is not representative of the whole country. Sure, they're all a bunch of idiots, but many many more we're not.

If it's not representative then it must be that 1000 youths in only that town decided to go to that park at the same time on the same day, for no particular reason.
That's some crazy odds.
Even if that's 100 parks that's only 100,000 out of 60 million. So no, it's not representative of the country as a whole

Lockdown just finished plus warm weather, it's not unthinkable that thousands of people decided to meet up with a couple of friends in the park at the same time. It's a shame they were so messy but it looks like most were following the covid rules, I expect photos selected for the press were selected to make it look as crowded as possible.
My kids were desperate to get out and have spent a lot of time with their friends in parks this week, it's not fair to frown at them for doing what they have been told is OK. I just hope they aren't leaving a mess.

My lad has been at the woods most days with 3-4 mates, since they went back to school. I found it crazy that it was allowed to go and sit next to them, but frowned upon to spend afternoons outside with them.

Yesterday I got a text message from Göç İdaresi, the Directorate General of Migration Management. Yay, I thought my new residency permit is on its way!

But it's not. The message was to tell me that under the new set of Covid restrictions I cannot act as if I'm a tourist - there are different rules and fewer restrictions for tourists.

Violations of the normal regulations will incur administrative sanctions, presumably in addition to the fine! Administrative sanctions has got to mean residency issues I think. Shit! I'd better start behaving myself.

Htf can you have reduced restrictions for tourists? You couldn't make it up. Well, you couldn't, some Turkish bureaucrat could. :angry-cussingblack:

We're in another full lockdown farce at the moment. It started last Thursday evening and runs until 19 May. Of course there are exemptions and of course, none of the rules make sense.

Alcohol sales banned during the lockdown - that lasted until today I believe.

Anyone can go out for essential items as the shops will be open every day except Sundays but the weekly market is not allowed. You can walk to the nearest shop but cannot use your car or motorcycle - so I went shopping because I only get one weeks worth of stuff at the Monday market and needed fruit and veg. I went on my electric scoot, passed the Jandarma 3 times and we just nodded to each other. Went to 2 supermarkets and the greengrocers. Plenty of people around but very few cars and whilst they ignored me I saw the Jandarma having a word with a bloke on a proper scooter.

No intercity travel from last friday - the roads into Marmaris were chocker block on Thursday and the village has filled up with Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir plate cars, and others.

At least some of the people that got stressed over last years lockdown seem to be less affected with this one. Maybe because they know when it'll finish -it's all because of Ramazan (Ramadan to the rest of the world) and Şeker Bayramı at the end of it. None of it makes much sense though and I think I'll go shopping again tomorrow. I might walk, it'll do me good. :P

Folks had our kids yesterday so we were childless for the first time since March last year

Went to Cambridge and I realised what a hermit I've been. It was fairly busy and I've not seen that many people since the summer probably longer than that. I felt like the country bumpkin going to the big city for the first time in a classic novel. There were people everywhere and I was walking about wide eyed at this strange phenomenon. No idea if it's been like that for a while but it was a culture shock for me as I've not been anywhere. Bit unsettling, which freaked me out about how far we've/I've changed.

Went to the Cricketers in Clavering for an early dinner and it felt almost normal. Like meals out used to be, well it would if you normally ate in a big tent in the car park, but we have a great meal in a restaurant type surrounding and had a fab time.

Just hope it's all not gonna go pair shaped now with the Indian variant. A tiny slice of normal was magic. I don't wanna knock the arse out of it but just a day now and again of near normal would be bloody welcome. Please

We've all been behaving here, but just heard on the news that folk from UK can come here from Monday without tests.

Not sure that's good for us. 5 million tourists come to our island each year. Some will bring it with them.

And not sure I'd want to get on a plane with no checks.

I don't believe that's the case. Well kinda... i think you may let us in.... but i'm not sure we'll let us out without one and without return. We'd also need to quarentine on getting back.

What isn't so positive is anyone travelling back after a holiday there has to pay for 2 tests and stay at home for 10 days.
Anywhere opening up to tourists at the moment won't attract the most careful people, not sure it's a good thing.
