Re: How many different bikes have you ridden in a day

While based at the dealer, we would help with test days. Sometimes a whole day rideout, others demo days based off-site, a few times at a test track. So, including mine getting to and from the shop, perhaps half a dozen - but some might have been short distances. Worse still, all BMWs ;)

To be fair, a first timer might not really know where the best line is.

Re: The Self-Driving Vehicles Thread

What I mean is that writing up the story that "the drunk driver was able to get into and set the car in motion then fall asleep at the wheel before the car stopped itself" as a 'win' for self-driving technology is disingenuous. Far better that the car never got moving! Really? Alcolock te...

I couldn't find the pic (don't know the rider's name) of the Ducati at a track launch where the guy is knee down a giving the photographer the bird (or similar). That's probably many levels above anything I could do. Ah, that must have been Ruben Xaus at the Hypermotard launch I'm guessing? https:/...

Are you suggesting that all cars are fitted with alcolocks as standard , instead of optional? https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/motoring-news/mandatory-breathalysers-to-be-fitted-in-all-new-cars-from-2022/ 13th Nov 2019 Breathalysers must be ab...

It has to be usable, so biting at the point where fingers still have dexterity but not dragging when fully 'disengaged'.

Most decent racers can save a rear slide. Only folk like MM can save a front slide. I couldn't find the pic (don't know the rider's name) of the Ducati at a track launch where the guy is knee down a giving the photographer the bird (or similar). That's probably many levels above anything I could do.

OK, I see the problem. But also the solution? Add the €5 of fuel when shopping.

Unfortunately it's another thing that will only effect the poorest people. Those people who don't have £99 in their bank account but do have £5 for enough fuel to last them until payday. So no different from paying by cash. You press the 'pay in kiosk' option, fill up, then pay. It won't prohibit t...

Re: What bike have you ridden to the limit of it's performance?

I can count on the thumb of one hand the number of times that I've had a rear slip under drive on the road. I had just enough time to think "oh, it's sliding" in amongst trying to keep up with the bikes ahead.

Re: What bike have you ridden to the limit of it's performance?

None, if you’ve ridden a bike to 100% of the bikes limit you’re saying no one could ride it quicker. I largely agree with this, but you could be cack handed and take weird lines that means you're hitting the bikes limits without being very quick (why do I suspect I've just described my own riding?)...

Re: Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?

Covids is a moving target with unsatisfactory stats and analysis every day, leading to 'medical reports' which are often anything In the uk the stats include self-reported lateral flow tests, 'proper' lab confirmed tests and the weekly random sample testing (reported weekly). Then there's hospitali...

IIRC the Tesco pumps will allow up to £99 worth of fuel - the pump doesn't know what vehicle you're (or he is) filling.

It might also depend on whether he has an approved overdraft.

Re: This here fuel station deposit thingy

So you in the UK are embracing the prepayment at supermarket fuel stations. Apparently they take £99 against your card until you draw the fuel, then refund the balance 'almost' immediately. No idea how immediate the refund is, but this side of the channel, they like to take €150 and usually takes 3...
