dern wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:49 am From my experience of an 1150gs that hadn't been sat under a cover for years... check the electrics. I can't recall if canbus is on that bike or they added it to the 1150. However if it has ABS then check everything very carefully.
CANBUS is only fitted to the R1200GS and later bikes.

Re: Find me a van then...

For me a van with beds is half a camper. The whole point of independence is having facilities and a toilet is essential imo. I'd go without cooking facilities rather than go with toilet. nah - for Weeksy's use case he's not wild-camping, they're always at a site that has facilities, so the van usag...

Re: I have a horrible feeling my T4 van's head gasket is toast

OK, I think we may have A Plan. I spoke to a guy I know who runs an engineering shop in Clay Cross and he suggested I ring AW Engineering in Darwen, as they are T4 specialists and will either supply and fit a recon engine or will fit a new cylinder head and gasket to my block. They do all the recon...

Re: I have a horrible feeling my T4 van's head gasket is toast

I've always suspected that the head gasket was the root issue, but allowed myself a little bit of hope when they said the radiator had a leak. That hope has now been extinguished and I'm back to considering options. But at least I'm doing it from home in Sheffield having made the journey back with ...

Being called in to HR to be questioned as a witness and listening to the ludicrous questions…. Have you ever witnessed the boss being referred to as cunt by any member of staff :wtf: Worked in one place where it was an HR issue if you hadn't called the boss a cunt within any given 6 months... Re: What do points make?

It shows our criminal justice system is broken. Magistrates allowing repeat offenders off for sympathy. Judges handing out token punishments for some major crimes. Prison system routinely letting people out after 1/2 the sentence. On the contrary, it actually shows that the system is treating each ...

Re: Alternative to a phone camera, not too bulky and not too spendy.

You want removable lenses? or just a solidly attached lens with a half-decent optical zoom? Pretty much everyone in the market place certainly used to make nice little digital cameras with varying options. I'm not sure what the market is like now given that camera phones seem to be able to mimic 90%...

Incidentally - is it only me that's seeing a join right in the middle of that 180 degree bent tube on the front of the girder forks? Why not make that out of one tube??

Heated waistcoat. To save me typing, see Noggin's gloves thread :) PS don't get one with a high collar unless you're sure it will fit inside your jacket. That. I'll repeat what's been said many times before: keep your core warm and the extremities will not lose their supply of warm blood. There's s...

Is that the Stelvio? Looks v nice in the sun. Can't remember if you did a review/comments on it. Pleased with it? As has been answered below, or above?, It's a v100 mandello and it's a great bike to own and ride. I was saying to the boss / mrs only today, that I've done twice the usual amount of ri...

Re: Winter gloves -

Non-Bike heated kit is often cheaper than stuff designed for bikers. There's plenty of heated site wear available, the main difference is it's all battery powered rather than designed to be wired to a bike. Some stuff like that is the same as bike gear, just not with the branding. If the battery is...

Re: Winter gloves -

A heated waistcoat will always be warmer than just gloves because you're heating the body core. That keeps your hands warm. Also means you don't have to wear loads of layers. It's quite surprising how much heat they provide - that thermals etc can never maintain. Easy to transfer between bikes, jus...

Re: Winter gloves -

Bit expensive maybe, but BMW make a pair of gloves that are waterproof and lined, but only lined thinly on the palm side, so they might work for you in terms of being less bulky. They're actually designed for using with heated grips, but the thin palm makes them far less bulky to wear. Unfortunately...

Just listened to a clip of Wes Streeting talking about the NHS, or rather the state of it. Performance measures, zero pay rise for failing managers....
