Re: Central Bank Digital Currency

How many people were made jobless by the printing press? The telegraph? And how many by the telephone? Robots on production lines? Computers? The internet? Reading this I'm reminded of my nan telling everyone she could that television would be the end of mankind as we know it. Yes, however all of t...

Re: Central Bank Digital Currency

When we see AI something useful, I might take an interest. But probably not :D It already is. Shame the party poopers are only interested in what-if negative outcomes. I'll bite; I think it's legitimate to have concerns about a technology that can impact all sectors of society, rather than having h...

Re: Central Bank Digital Currency

There are certainly changes afoot. When Baby D was first born I did have serious thoughts along the lines of "maybe we should bias her upringing more towards creative endeavours" thinking that AI was going to make a lot of jobs redundant over the next half century. Turns out, it looks lik...

Folk are worried about AI watching them, but live a place with a million cameras watching them :D Research by Clarion Security Systems estimates that there are over 942,562 CCTV Cameras in London's 607 square miles, equating to 1552.82 CCTV cameras per square mile. (2022) The numbers of CCTV camera...

(Though frankly, why anyone that could do the job would want it at the salary on offer is beyond me).
Correct, and it makes sense to give that role to a member from that political union, and not a political union such as the EU.

Re: In todays news...

Has she been appointed? Stoltenberg is in the job for another year+ I thought. Rutte was favourite but looks like he's quitting for quiet obscurity. Seems pretty obvious to go for someone from the EU bloc tbh. Why? The whole of the EU only contribute 20% of the NATO budget, and several EU countries...

What's interesting is that Barrack Obama is purported to be slightly further to the right, and a fair bit more into the blue than me. If correct, that says a lot about what umericans believe to be "left wing". :)

It didn't last time. Apparently they were ignoring the fatties and developing the bike for the skinny streak of piss. That didn't end well, did it? :hmmm: :D

This "test" is clearly designed to get a certain answer. I didn't like some of the options and I didn't like some of the answers I gave even if they're true, but if I answer honestly, then very unsurprisingly here I am... Here I am, this morning. Last night I got off the fence and was in ...

Re: Political compass

I gave up after 5 questions as the questions/answers were quite obviously written so that "it depends" wasn't an option. In which case you had to pick one of their answers, which I wasn't comfortable doing. Years ago I studied, briefly, how to make marketing questions unbiased, which is bl...

Sykes maybe need to look at retiring.
I'll be impressed if he comes back from that injury, although speculation was that he might be heading to Moto America (for the cash). His ex missus must have taken him to the cleaners.

Re: WSBK - Round 6 - Donington

Sykes has well and truly fucked himself - ten rib fractures, three of them being two in the same rib.

Donnington is fun to ride, but awful for watching racing - too much of a one line circuit. However, even taking that into account, it was dull racing.

Re: The future of motorcycling

But then again, who actually goes touring now? The vast majority of folk I know only ride maybe 100 miles on a weekend blast or commuting a few miles to work, you can do that on almost anything. Me, and I do very little weekend riding. However, I used to be the opposite, and couldn't see why you'd ...
