Re: Fitness - prep n stuff!
Have a look for a pdf from the American College of Sports Medicine 'Protein Intake for Optimal Muscle Maintenance' - it's a download but only a couple of pages. (I tried to copy a link but each time I do it asks me if I want to download it again  ). Gremmers had it pretty much nailed up there ^...

Trail mix/bars are a piece of cake (arf!) to make. Basic mixture for the bars: peanut butter and honey. Heat. Add what you like, oats, almonds, raisins, granola, linseed/flax what evs. Stir. Spread out. Cool. Slice up. That way you can vary 'em in carb/fat content etc to suit your calorie burn etc. ...

Re: Xmas deserts, what say you ?
I suspect there's 'industrial panettone' and 'non-industrial panettone'. (I can't imagine industrial production engineers nodding happily at the traditional several days dough proving process). The shelf life of most of it is a bit of a puzzle too as it's, basically, bread. :hmmm: Still like the M&a...

Yes!!! It would have been a Lotus Eclat! They used washer fluid pipe! :D No idea which Lotus this is, but it may be up for sale soon. . I wont be buying it! Hateful things. Pretty much a british leyland parts bin with a bad Lotus engine in! Are they Allegro door latches I see before me?...

(The bit I like best is getting boxes of cheap mince pies in the week after from all the excess stock they get in each year. Chances are there'll be some prime beef joints too. ). I rely on Mrs. G's sister and brother (Morrison's and Waitrose respectively) to provide post-festive bargains...

Re: What's yours called?
'Read it and Weep' would be a fair 'misery memoir' title.
My volume 2 might be 'What Happens if I Press Thi...' or, for reasons explained before 'How to Start a War when It's Raining'....(subtitle 'Things That Make You Go...Boom ').
Vol. 3 'Give Me Your Watch and I'll Tell You the Time'.

Re: Xmas deserts, what say you ?
Don't get involved with it much any more - apart from complaining that lots of stuff we buy routinely gets pushed off the shelves to make space for all the comedy food and tat like musical, flashing lights tins of biscuits etc from the end of November onwards. Got Ocado booked just before so will be...

Re: Bands, groups, music, inspirational, aspirational, what happened ?
I'm just not sure how you access the new stuff - I really have no interest in Ariana Grande/ Taylor Swift / Rita Ora etc A lot of the "edgy" new bands - such as Fontaines DC and Kneekap are just a bit meh My next door neighbour is an avid listener / buyer of vinyl - but even asking him, I...

Re: Bands, groups, music, inspirational, aspirational, what happened ?
I suppose it's a bit like classical music. Everyone listens quite happily to the old stuff, just rerecorded umpteen times over. Production of work that'll stand the test of time tailed off dramatically. Lots of composers now just write for films and games. The back catalogue will keep everyone going...

What's yours called?
It's the time when the bookshelves in the supermarket are full of quick little earner cookbooks and 'straight to pulp biographies with attempts at funny/clever titles by people that have had their 5 minutes of fame'. 'I may not have been totally honest with you' is quite a good title though. So, wha...

Re: Bands, groups, music, inspirational, aspirational, what happened ?
(Popular) Music was, pretty much, a yoof thing and often tied into fashion etc. From skiffle to rock n' roll with the post-war fashions, through hippies, mods, glamrock (platform soles anyone? :D ) etc etc. It involved getting dressed up and going out. There were dance halls, discos, bands in pubs e...

Re: Assad: What does Putin get for harbouring him?
When the game is afoot, yer despot normally adds a beard. We await the dishevelled pictures... Looking back at images, Al-Assad hasn't always sported (a rather poor attempt at) a 'tache. He probably only went all despot-ish when he added it. :D One things for sure, there's no point in shaving it of...

Re: Assad: What does Putin get for harbouring him?
But presumably Assad effectively pays potection money going forward? His assests may not be easy to access (or considered his, even if they were able to liberate them) He'll have been shovelling large slabs of the country's dosh etc into Switzerland, 'offshore' etc for umpteen years. It's the basic...

Re: Assad: What does Putin get for harbouring him?
On the basis that Assad had to get up and leave quickly , leaving his fleet of vehicles behind, one assumes that he had sorted his affairs ... But what are the benefits to Putin in qiving him asylum? Whilst he was a Putinite whilst in power, his top trumps value is now very little! It sends a heart...

Re: Assad: What does Putin get for harbouring him?
I assume he'll have $manybillions stashed away so he'll be able to pay his B&B bills. He won't cost much to accommodate anyway and he can always be pulled out of cold storage if the tide turns in Syria. If it's anything like here they'll be wanting him back in 6 months.

Re: This time next year, President Trump moves back into the Whitehouse...
In a recent interview Trump mentioned several people who he thinks should be in jail (Schiff, Cheney etc) which the media gleefully reported as evidence he's going to send the DoJ to persecute them. They omitted the part where he then was asked if he intended to send his DoJ after these people to p...
