Re: In todays light hearted look at the (non-political) news
Do we need to start hording food ?
Obviously yes. If we can't measure how far it is to the furthest galaxy we may have got other stuff wrong too. Like when the next food delivery to Lanzerote is due. It might be 3 mins late.
Off to all the supermarkets tomorrow to clear the shelves of bog ...

Re: The astronauts return ...
They were never in real danger, as above they could have left at any time. As also above, it would have been a dedicated mission from SpaceX put on specially to get them back, which is very expensive and not needed.
So the 'story' while technically true in the details, glosses over a lot of the ...

Re: The astronauts return ...
Much has been made of them being 'stranded' but they could have come back at any time as there's a return module docked in case there's an issue. It was decided to bring them back as part of the normal rotation schedule rather than use the 'emergency' module.
Musk offered to bring them back ...

Re: The astronauts return ...
Much is being made of the two astronauts who have been stuck in the ISS for 9 months,
But how long have the other two that are with them been there?
They were sent personal items and clothes as they had got enough - how? Or do Amazon deliver to ISS?
And what about the 50% increase in food ...

There's far more work gone into that than there appears to have.
Funniest thing in the article is T.R.O.G. - The Race of Gentlemen. The bike's built in Australia and...it's a Harley. A gentleman might ride the world's fastest Indian but I'm not sure one has ever ridden an HD.

Re: Would you have an electric car if you had the money for a new car and were in the market for one?
Best selling car in the world last year was the Tesla Model Y. "Car" in this context includes the big selling Ford F trucks, which always used to take top spot. I wonder if Tesla will retain that crown this year  It was #1 in 2023 too.
Number 9 was an EV too, the BYD SONG (called the Seal ...

Re: What do you do now that you wouldn't do when you were younger?
Worry.
When I was younger stuff really didn't bother me, if something broke it was a shame but done, if there was something bad that could happen there was always the chance it might not or if it did, well then we'll deal with it then. If there was an exam or interview, it'd go how it went, you ...

Possibly not light hearted, but I noticed a birthday at the bottom of the screen. Hilldweller is/would have been? 81. So I looked at his last post. It was in the old Covid thread back in 2020 saying Covid was just another flu and the fatality rates were the same.... :hmmm:

Re: What I do now………
How much front downforce does that thing give?
I’m not entirely sure on the exact numbers but you can adjust it via the tractor itself, front 3 point linkage allowing you to adjust float, the benefit of this is being able to use it on the 5420 with the very wide turf tyres so when the ground ...

Re: Cordless lawnmower???
I've got a makita 36v one which runs off of 2 x batteries. I also had a G-Tech one before that. I'd say they're okay as a finishing mower or if you mow your lawns weekly. They are useless at trying to cut long grass and just bog down and die. The G-Tech gave alovely finish to short grass but was ...

About the only thing I know about inheritance tax is that in the new regulations the very richest Farmers/landowners will only pay about half of what most others pay and theyre still fucking whinging about it.
Plus Jeremy Clarkson only bought a his land specifically to avoid inheritance tax and ...

Thanks to Biden, yeah? ;)
I was about to ask "what happened in early 2022?"
Any gains under Biden were effectively negated by 20+% inflation, but you knew that...

America also needs the world, that's the bit you and Trump seem to have overlooked.
