Re: New car day... the end of the Saga...
Hope it works out for you, I loved mine. They are much nicer to drive than the crappy VW the sheeple own, generally cheaper and easier to fix too. But there again, VW's never go wrong

Re: New car day... the end of the Saga...
Unfortunately the electrical systems on mercs are far from straightforward, I know from experience after buying a Sprinter with some known faults that I thought I could easily sort. Got there in the end, but hate to think what it would have cost at a stealer, hence the van being cheap! If you end up...

Re: Jody's KTM 690
I used the waterless (Evans?) in the 955 Daytona and it completely cured the tempermental cooling system. The stuff has a much higher boiling point so doesn't exhibit the 'boiling over' of conventional coolants. Won't cure another underlying issue though. Need to use the flushing compound too with t...

Re: BMW K1600GT
I took a 1500 out for a spin with the missus on the back a few years ago, coming to a stop in heavy traffic made me sweat! It had the usual BMW lack of feel to the low speed steering and I certainly didn't want to get it even slightly off balance. Hate to think what it would be like around slippery ...

Re: Classic Triumph Bonneville
Don't know about the Pukka pies, just a knack that it sounds like you're getting, when I started i only weighed 9 1/2 stone. Thankfully never tried any of the old 500 singles although I'd wager the CR500 I had was worse. Personally, I would make sure the main was over-rich rather than under and then...

Re: Classic Triumph Bonneville
I used to do the first bit of getting the engine up to tdc-ish sitting on the seat and then stand up off the saddle to give it a proper prod, maybe a bit of a jump at the same time!

Re: Helmet - alternatives to Arai
Once I tore myself away from Griffin, I've been pretty much only Arai. Changed to Schuberth, not as much ventilation but similar to Arai fit, latching the visor down is the only pain in the arse, takes 2 hands, now I know what cruise control is for

Re: Round Two – Jackson Racing Honda CX500/R Cafe Racer
I was supplied one as a company bike when I was dispatch riding, absolutely superb for the job. Narrow enough for traffic, fast enough for the motorway, reasonably economical, no chain to worry about and most of them did about 48k before suffering something terminal, what's not to like?

Re: Scenic App
I tried using Calimoto and their planned route looked good. Then I downloaded a GPX (I think) and uploaded to Basecamp, shite - missed out lots of Twisties in preference for the shorter route. Then I tried uploading to Ride with GPS, not much better. Then I gave up ( hours later). Really frustrating...

Re: Brake Fluid
I used to put ptfe tape on the threads and while it make it slightly more efficient you don’t need to do it as even though it’s pulling air past the threads none of that gets in the system. The only time that might be useful is if you’re refilling from empty when you might have air in the system. I...

Re: Brake Fluid
Brake fluid change by vacuum is probably the easiest and cheapest kit but you often need to remove the bleed nipple and put a few turns of PTFE tape round the threads to stop it pulling air through there. I bought a Draper pressure jobbie that is superb as it holds a fair quantity of fluid but you o...

Re: The Triumph
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure I didn't remove the radiator or oil cooler when I did my Daytona, just removed the mounting bolts. That gave me enough room to sort the exhaust manifold removal - I had to change a couple of studs at the same time.

Re: The Triumph
If you are going to keep the bike long term it may well be worth considering fitting grease nipples. I fitted some to one of my bikes a few years ago. Simple job, just needs some thought as to placement with regards accessibility and not fouling on anything in the range of motion. Bought a bag of 10...

Still have my Ev volvo. Raced a chap in an R32 from the lights a couple of weeks back and flattened him. He caught me up when I pulled up to a shop and told me he was getting rid of his car 😀 Range suffers from being a hooligan but I see as saving money by not having to buy a Porsche in my mid life...

Re: Speeding - New App
No one will capture you on your favourite blast through the countryside and maybe it’s what’s needed to stop people blasting through 30s where there’s a genuine point to the speed limits. We regularly have people coming through our village at properly dangerous speeds. I frequently got overtaken in...

Re: S1000RR Sport 2022
Thought so, been down it quite a few times. Brilliant road when you catch it quiet, always been concerned about speed traps but never seen one. Plenty of difficult to read corners to catch out the unwary or inexperienced :D, hence the Shellgrip round lots of corners which, due to lack of maintenance...
