Re: COTA Motogp

My 4 Fantasy MotoGP riders for COTA are Mav, Pedro, Enea and Alex. In FP1 3 of my boys were in the top 4. I'll take that. :D

If you've got posh oak skirting boards then No More Nails is a bit below par. Danish oil to bring out the figure of the wood, then fix with brass screws.

Re: In your working life

I had a few beers in a Birmingham boozer with Joe Jackson and got pissed with Joey Dunlop in a Portuguese bar. Next day I had a stinking hangover and Joey went out and won an F1 race.

I've always regarded life as a precious thing that you fight to the last to preserve. But if I was in constant agony with no light at the end of the tunnel and the drugs just weren't working I'd just want someone to turn the lights out then and there.

So I'm a Yes as well.

Re: Commissioning a solar thermal system

So I'm back in the land of baguettes, fine wine and stinky cheese, and one of my maintenance tasks today was to give the solar thermal tubes a good wash with a raggedy head mop. The amount of dirt that came off them was impressive. Yesterday I filled up the circuit with water (I leave the system emp...

Does a 'Place du Marché' count? Even if there isn't a market happening at that time?

I know how strict you buggers can be.

Looks fabulous, but an all-up weight of 118kgs? That's La-La land levels of wishfulness.

Re: Pension stuff, how's it all looking ? HAve you prepared ?

He'd spent his whole life seeing interest rates of about 5% at least, to the point that it was about as guaranteed as it could get, it was unthinkable that interest might drop to zero. Yes, quite. It makes me laugh when people go on about 4 or 5% as being sky-high interest rates. Zero interest rate...

Re: Pension stuff, how's it all looking ? HAve you prepared ?

OK, so it looked like a bit of a Ponzi scheme, but was in fact just sloppy management (or management who didn't understand the implications of their actions).

Re: Ducati ST4 Starting Problem

Battery terminal getting hot is a sure indicator of high current draw over an inadequately specified cable. Your mate needs to get on one of the Ducati forums or FB groups and start asking about heavy duty battery to starter cables. He'll need both cables (live and neutral) made in heavier gauge cab...

Re: Pension stuff, how's it all looking ? HAve you prepared ?

I've never fully understood why and how Equitable Life went down the pan, but by the scale of it I'd hazard a guess that there was an element of fraud involved and not just bad management.

Re: Pension stuff, how's it all looking ? HAve you prepared ?

My company pension from 1974 to 1989 was invested with Equitable Life. That ended well... Bloody hell! The Coalition Government then passed the Equitable Life (Payments) Act 2010, establishing a £1.5 billion compensation scheme for affected policyholders. This was significantly less than the £4 – £...

I always wanted the car, but mainly because our set didn't have a motorbike. Sister had the dog, Dad had the hat, Mum had the iron.

What stereotyping?

No-one to speak of through work, but I did have a brief telephone conversation with Sir Arnold Weinstock, head honcho of GEC (English Electric as was). I was a mainframe shift leader at the time and a call came through on the Bat-Phone, asking (politely but very firmly) to speak with Bill Northwood ...
