Don’t know about the forks, but with regard to pads - I’ve never had a problem with uberbike, I used to have race matrix up front and a Kevlar one at the back.
I switched to galfer pads and they are really good. The black ones do me fine (in a set of cura 4) but at the moment I have some green ...

Re: The journey from small guy to teenager...
I've just had a similar issue - I took the shock linkage off, gave it a wipe and put it back on again and it magically fixed it. Not a clue where the problem was.

Re: New Frame Day - Bird Aeris 9
It's done a few trips to work and back as well as a day at Twisted and we're all good!
It's a bigger frame - an ML rather than an M - and sizing is perfect. I was a bit concerned about reach but everything just feels like it's in the right place. It's obviously a longer bike than the Aether and it ...

Re: NBD - Bird Aether 9
This is all stripped down having donated parts to the new bike, I’ll be selling the frame, forks, shock, brakes and dropper i think.
Had an awesome time at twisted last Sunday and finally got the guts to do the pro line drop so that was a fitting last ride for this bike which has been just awesome.

It’s all built up now and looking pretty good. I’ve still got some play in the headset and need to swap brake pads but we’re nearly there.
The dropper is a one up 210 which is a bit too high even when it’s slammed. I’ve got pins to drop it to 190 so I’ll give that a try another ...

Frame was meant to arrive today but parcel force didn’t attempt delivery. Hopefully will arrive tomorrow.
The Aether has been stripped down so parts are ready to move across when it arrives. Forks should be turning up tomorrow too…

Re: New Frame Day - Bird Aeris 9
I'm hoping so. I love my Aether 9, but have fancied one of these for a while so the Aether will be finding a new home.superstu wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2026 10:59 pm Be interested to see how you get on. I had an early Aeris mk1.5 but didn’t find it pedalled well. Was fun downhill.
This should be nice when built!

Re: New Frame Day - Bird Aeris 9
Mmmmm its pretty similar to the Aeris isnt it?
Yeah they’re both quite similar, the Aeris is a bit more ‘gravity focussed’ according to bird and the Aether is more trail oriented.
So the Aeris will be better on the downs and hopefully still a bit poppy and not too heavy. Will definitely be ...

New Frame Day - Bird Aeris 9
Perhaps against my better judgement, I've gone and bought a new frame. This has 160mm of travel and can take up to a 180mm fork. There's a linkage to up travel to 180mm at the rear, but they're hard to come by. It comes with a one up seat post and a set of cura 4 brakes which is pretty good. The ...

NBD - Bird Zero
It arrived a week ago and I'm really happy with it. This frame is ML which is bigger than my Aether (M) and it fits perfectly.
It's really lively and is easy to jump off verges/stumps etc and pedals really well.

The muckynuts one does do a good job protecting the shock.
I only ever really use the long part if I'm going to work and it's damp, I can't be doing with arriving at work coated completely in mud!

Re: Rear mudguard for FS MTB
I use the mucky nutz guard on the bird and it’s pretty good.
It’s not pretty but then none of them are. The Velcro works well to hold it in place too.
You still get some splatter when using the longer guard but it does a decent job at keeping most of it off you, it’s usually only my backpack ...
