Re: Have you ever thought seriously about emigrating from the UK? What did you consider?
I didn't really consider it, it was more by accident. Came for a year just to try, still here 10 or 11 years later. Didn't move here with kids though (now have a 7yo), obviously that has a huge bearing on things. I miss certain things about the UK but with every development latey, it looks less and...

Re: Football 2020... the Premier League is back.
Is it going to work out better or worse for your team ? I'll tell ya next week  Down here in the depths of non-league football, we have a somewhat nerve-wracking wait here for the vote to declare the season 'concluded'. Barrow are 4 pts clear and would go up to the EFL for the first time in 48...

Re: Bikes giveth and they taketh away
Nice thread  My waffly addition (Tl;dr version- bikes are good, as are dads) I write this sat in my late Dad's house as we clear it out for sale. Not pleasant; still boxes of tissues around the place from when the funeral director was here. Still blood on the carpet that we can't get out, from...

Can an Optimate charge a new battery?
I thought I read somewhere that they need to detect a small voltage in the battery before they will charge it.
Basic lead acid batt (Yuasa), Optimate 3 I think.
Any experience?

Re: Fitness gurus, help please!
I concur, it's a brutal sport although I'm coming from a fell running perspective. I keep a monthly physio appointment open whether I need it or not. Chances are, I've a niggle when the appointment comes around. Problem is, if I did all the strengthening exercises she sets me, I wouldn't have time t...

Re: Full face recommendations?
I'm not exactly sure why Arais never fit me, I definitely don't have a round head. Used to try them on all the time as I wanted the Dunlop replica and they just felt wrong. Consequently never really used anything other than Shoei apart from some mx lids. None of the Bell vents close so those eyelets...

Full face recommendations?
Been out of the market so long i don't actually have a bike to ride it in hehe Plain, or nearly, but not black or white. Fair weather only :1 Around 300 quid Used to always buy Shoei but last time was over 10 years ago. Arais were too round, unsure if they still are. Is this minging? I can't work ou...

Re: Yay, new bike time
It's been bought so spawn junior can learn about IC engines and motorcycles Might try that excuse one day.. Nice, that'd come in handy round here. Reminds me of the XL my landlady had when I was young and dumb. I used to take it out for spins where you really shouldn't. Out into the bay at low tide...

Re: Most beautiful bike ever built, what is it ?
My FS1E must've been one of the last, it was E reg. Not great looking though - even then the massive void above the engine looked weird. After a crash on its maiden outing with me, it was even less of a looker - I replaced the mangled front end with a brush painted Dulux gloss yellow italic wheel an...

Re: New riding kit, what have you bought lately and why?
Haven't even got a bike yet (well technicallly Ihave but won't be picking it up any time soon) but I did buy my first bike thing - a very Marmite Belstaff jacket which I hope will stink like my old one did. 240eur off full price - should've passed it up, don't need one, but you know how it goes.

90s or 00s TZ250s (and RS's) always do it for me, especially in the utilitarian plain white plastics

Re: First post-test/big-bike ?
I don't know if I have any pics but mine was a 350LC, HAK555W. It was pretty minging when I bought it. Pearlescent white, with decals on the tank that said "Screamer", wheels and engine brush painted in red oxide (everyone worked in the shipyard then, and nicked their paint for just about ...

Re: Homologation Labels
I was looking at these online yesterday, as I'm going to import a 2010 ZZR14 from UK to Spain. Mine is E4, which according to this list means it was homologated in Holland, though my dad bought the bike new from a UK dealer. E1 is Germany, E11 is UK and the others you can probably work out. e6*93/81...

Just not sure I'm ready for wax jackets again
I wore belstaffs back in the day because veggie. By eck did they hang on to the smell of two stroke fumes (used to douse it in patchouli to mask the smell, making it far worse).

I was looking at that Oxford jacket. Apparently the badge is velcroed on?
I also looked at the Belstaff one it's based on. Silly money but I'd have one.

Re: Has your bike tastes/wants changed over the years ?
My bikes were usually highly strung strokers, even the roadbikes. I'm seemingly attracted to bikes that go great, but not for long. A Stan Stephens tuned 500 (well, 570) Gamma. A VOR503 - bits dropped off it every time I rode it. I grew up and had a couple of 'proper' commuters, an RF900 and a Fazer...
