Re: Find me a van then...

My ex-BT Mk5 Transit had an Eberspacher unit that was plumbed into the coolant system. There was a timer so the van could be set to be warm before you drove off or woke up. It also had a hand wash basin and tap. Yeah but then I guess needs power as well from what I've read, so we're then starting a...

Re: Find me a van then...

I can't remember what yours is but if it's a lwb then hammocks would work well without a major conversion or losing any space in the van. Mine is swb. I don't fancy a hammock in the slightest Shame, they're incredibly comfortable. If it's a swb then getting a pop up roof with a double bed would sol...

Re: Find me a van then...

If it was me, I'd be looking to maybe having fold-down beds mounted to the inside walls. That way they're fitted if needed and out of the way if not. Having said that - for a van to be warm internally, it NEEDS to be insulated well, you also need to have good air-flow to prevent a massive amount of...

Re: Find me a van then...

Cooking we do outside anyway, we have a stove and that cooks full meals from burritos to pasta for buttons. That's easy. If we're staying 'away' then the gazebo is up, so we cook under cover in there. That said, they 99% of the time have toilets too on these days. It's more for sleeping in warmth re...

Re: I have a horrible feeling my T4 van's head gasket is toast

A cabbie recently told us the best engines he'd ever run were 90s diesels. Most of them achieved starship mileages with no engine work. He reckons cars are much more unreliable today with so many needing engine work as well as multiple sensor failures, DPF issues etc. Exactly that ^^^ I've owned th...

Re: Find me a van then...

SO we're coming up to 2 years with the Transit now and it's still my happy place. It's just reaching 89,000 miles, which considering i bought it on 43,000 will give you an idea of how much driving it's been up to. It's used a heck of a lot that's for sure. But it goes, stops, and carries stuff exact...

Went with the boy and his forks/shock to TFTUNED in Westbury after work today. Was getting them serviced and a full check over. This is the 4th set of services we've had this year and it's been insanely useful to use. This is the first time we've taken the 'spare' shock as it's now the primary shock...

Re: I have a horrible feeling my T4 van's head gasket is toast

But as said, who knows why someone is offloading the next one you buy? How hard can a head gasket be to change anyway (yes I know the head / block may be distorted). How many people 'offload' cars because they're problems ? Rather than "i just want a new vehicle".. Plenty of people buy, s...

Ummm did we not? Lol I have no clue what I had for breakfast but yeah you may be right. The weird thing is, I wasn't trying and harder on the Session, it was like jumping on a panigale or a bandit 600. The session just made it really easy, I didn't push my limits more. I'm currently devising several...

Re: I have a horrible feeling my T4 van's head gasket is toast

To add to the pricing equation I should add that this calendar year I have spent £2300 on the van (new radiator, gear linkage rebuild, timing chain, water pump, new rocker cover and sundry gaskets/o-rings to fix oil leaks, new door linkage mechanism) so if I were to scrap the van now I'd be kissing...

Re: I have a horrible feeling my T4 van's head gasket is toast

I've always suspected that the head gasket was the root issue, but allowed myself a little bit of hope when they said the radiator had a leak. That hope has now been extinguished and I'm back to considering options. But at least I'm doing it from home in Sheffield having made the journey back with ...
