Re: ** An Announcement **
Best of luck to you. Keep fighting the bastard. A very good friend of mine is doing something similar right now. He's doing really well. Best wishes to you. X

Re: Royal Enfield 350 classic
A mate of mine has a 500 classic in that gopping khaki colour. It's a hateful thing. Unable to overtake cars, the spokes break with startling regularity and it eats cush drives (Fuck knows how!) It's on its 3rd set in 9000 miles. It has some exhaust emission control thing on it which went wrong when...

Re: Tyre age and sport tourer tyres
I have tried various incarnations of Michelin Pilot Road tyres along with Power Pures but I always end up going back to Pilot Power 2CTs. They may be old hat but they last a 3000 mile hard thrash of Euro mountains, they are OK in the wet and are much more responsive than their newer Road counterpart...

French Peage toll tags
I regularly go to France. This year I got a Ulys tag. It has proved quite problematic, mainly due to the fact that I'm not from France and I don't have a French bank account. These problems aren't insurmountable, so far (I think) but it's far from an easy process to get the damned thing to work. So,...

I had the same problem, even though I had both fork seals replaced last year.
This seems to have solved it.

Waterproof/windproof jacket to fit over leathers.
As above. Any recommendations?
Must foldupable to be stuffed into a tank bag and not take up much space.
I'm thinking something aimed at cyclists, perhaps but in extra large.
Have I answered my own question?

I bought a 7'X11' worksop a couple of years ago. It was £2500. I lined the floor with decent plywood.
I'm pretty pleased with it.

Re: France and helmet reflective stickers
I go to France a lot. Usually four or five times a year. Sometimes I ride, sometimes I tow a bike on a trailer. I have Crit Air for the car and one of my bikes. I've never been asked about it. I carry hi viz vests, spare bulbs (for the non led lights), insurance certificate, V5. I don't have helmet ...

Re: It's that time of year again - Swarming season.
I rode through a swarm of small bees in Thailand when I rented a bike once. I thought it was a cloud of flies hovering above the road, so I ducked as I went through them. A load went down my back. I had blisters, scabs and all sorts for a few months afterwards. It was a most unpleasant experience, f...

I've put the basic Nitron on my Z1000.
It doesn't look flash, but man it transforms the bike. Even 2 up. Brilliant bit of kit.

Re: Weekend to the south (ish) of France
Yes - but it's a rather unpleasant experience (I've done that trip two or three times). The Brittany Ferries Portsmouth - Caen (Oustreham) is a nicer ferry, (yes it's pricier) and lands you much further south than Calais or Dieppe . ((I think St Malo is further south, but a longer ferry trip). You ...

Re: Weekend to the south (ish) of France
The DFDS ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe leaves at 2300 and lands in Dieppe at 0430. That way you don't have to camp and can have a sleep in your cabin on the ferry and you get an early start when you get to France. I've done this several times. Got down to Nice in one day. Yes - but it's a rather un...

Re: Clarkson's Farm, Season 2
Me and my girlfriend were talking about his motivation. He obviously doesn't need to "do" anything, and if I was him I'd be living in a nice farm house in Provence with some animals, a couple of sporty cars and some motorbikes. I think we decided that if he gives up making TV he'll quickly...
