Re: What's the deal with Magpies?

My neighbour at our previous house used to shoot them (in his own garden). If I found he'd been shooting at anything in my garden he'd have been in a world of trouble. (Used to use sprinklers at night on his lawn when there was a hose-pipe ban on too).

Magpies are often regarded as a pest because ...

Given the totaly boring football that England played in the last 3 or 4 games I am not surprised. If I wanted to see 3 or 4 blokes kicking a ball sideways to each other, and then giving it back to their own goalkeeper ...

Never did have a bike I could put my left foot down confidently cos they were all tall

Proper planning is so worth it, especially for stopping

Of course here I have had to go back to left foot down, but I still check, just in case :angelic-green: :angelic-green ...

Re: Reading: The Book Thread

Just finished "Iran, Israel and the Middle East Explained" by Levi Kaven. Simplistic in places, repetitive in places, but a good primer on the fuck-up that is the Middle East. Should be required reading for every gung ho politician who wants to meddle.

Re: Ear plugs

I have always used disposable ones, both for motorcycles and before that for pistol shooting. (Some pistols warrented a set of muffs too, 44 Magnums indoors are a tad loud and 9mm is a very yappy little beast). Never really had an issue with foam plugs although the really soft yellow bell-shaped ...

If he's a good surgeon he won't get upset at you seeking a 2nd opinion. He may warn you that if you get 5 opinions they may all be different, very few professionals of anyprofession will agree precisely about something as complex as fixing your knee.

I would be inclined to wait, tell him of the ...

I used the free version of both Claude and GPT, so no real surprise it is shite.

The problem here is that often there isn't anyone local, or local to them means SW England but not extending as far as Cornwall. Google search is worse, used to be OK but the last few years sees it throwing up paid-for ...

Just tried it for finding someone to sort out my decking. Says it doesn't have live access and sends me of to Checkatrade et al. Not helpful at all!

Few weeks ago my daughter use ChatGPT to find a place to park in Newquay. The recommended nearest car park doesn't exist!

I am not convinced by AI.

I do like old school mechanical watches, but all 5 of mine are modestly priced. I may buy more, but I am not kidding myself that they are 'better'.

My most reliable watch was IIRC £2.99, the cheapest black plastic quartz LCD I could find. I kept perfect time, lasted 3 or 4 years on my arm, the ...

My bikes have always had OEM exhausts fitted, and I have never seriously considered changing them. They may be lighter, but I can achieve the same result byy taking off the top box.
